There’s something special about settling down with a good book on a cold winter evening. This season, meet eight authors who bring stories, ideas, and fresh views to the page. From Aditya Banerjee’s crime mystery to Prabir Ghosh’s take on everyday objects, each book has something different to say. Readers can also find tips on fitness, lessons in leadership, fun quizzes for children, and new thoughts on education and philosophy. Get to know these authors and find a book that feels right for your winter reading list.

1. Aditya Banerjee

Mystery writer Aditya Banerjee has built a growing body of fiction around crime, secrets and sharp detective work. Creator of detective Shankar Sen, he has written books such as Broken Dreams, Stolen Legacies, Death in the Walled City, and A Poet’s Ballad. Having grown up in India and moved to Canada in the nineties, Banerjee draws from his love of history and wide travel experiences. His latest book, Secret of the Missing Tenant, brings Shankar Sen into a tense case involving a missing watchman, murder, hidden crime and people determined to keep the truth buried.

2. Prabir Ghosh

Prabir Ghosh is a Chartered Accountant, former corporate leader, and author with a deep love for history and literature. His books have won praise for bringing India’s past closer to modern readers. In his latest book, The Influencers, Ghosh looks at 14 common objects that have shaped human life over time. From their roots to their role in history, he shares the stories behind things we use or see each day but rarely think about. With clear writing and fresh ideas, Ghosh invites readers to look at daily objects in a new way and learn how they helped shape the world.

3. Shirish Anant Karnik

Shirish Anant Karnik brings years of weight training, fitness study, and gym experience to his writing. A certified Fitness Trainer, Body Building Specialist, and Fitness Nutrition Specialist, he founded We Shape Gymnasium in 2016. His book, Shape Your Body Into V Shape, answers common questions about gym workouts and weight training in simple words. It is for people who want to stay fit, lose fat, manage weight, or build a strong body. This monsoon, Karnik’s book can help readers train with better knowledge, clear goals, and more confidence.

4. Amlesh Ranjan

With over 38 years of experience in corporate leadership and coaching, Amlesh Ranjan believes that great leadership begins with knowing yourself. As an author, coach, and speaker, he has spent over two decades sharing ideas on life, learning, and leadership. In Who You Are Is How You Lead, Amlesh shows how self, social, and situational awareness, consciousness, and authenticity can help leaders build trust and bring out the best in their teams. For readers who want to evolve to the next level of leadership, this book is a worthy pick this winter.

5. Dr. Ravi Bhatia

Dr. Ravi Bhatia brings together medicine, curiosity, and a love for quizzing. A pediatrician and Armed Forces Medical College, Pune alumnus, he has written four quiz books for young readers. His latest book, Let’s Quiz Kid Volume 3, packs 500 questions on India, covering history, geography, politics, sports, culture, and literature. It turns learning into a lively test of knowledge, making it a fun pick for children who love facts, challenges, and India. This winter, Dr Bhatia invites young minds to read, think, and test what they know with joy.

6. Shubhrangshu Barman Roy

With nearly three decades of work in leadership, consulting, and business change, Dr. Shubhrangshu Barman Roy brings real work experience to his writing. A Business Head at BMGI, he has worked with teams and companies across India and several countries, helping improve work systems, company culture, and leadership skills. His latest book, The Leader’s Behavior Lab, looks at how small daily actions, from the way a leader speaks to how they act under stress, shape a workplace. Backed by real work and behavioral science, the book gives leaders simple tools to build trust and better teams.

7. Dr. Romesh Kumar

Dr. Romesh Kumar is a psychologist and school mental health leader with over a decade of experience in student well-being. A former head of the Counseling Cell at the Directorate of School Education, Jammu, he now serves as Head of Department at DIET Jammu. His book, Happy Schools: Placing Happiness at the Heart of Schools, promotes happiness and holistic development through Positive Psychology, SEL, SEE Learning, and Indian knowledge systems. The book was featured as the only Indian title in UC Berkeley’s GGSC Educators’ Favourite Books List 2025.

8. Jamir Ahmed Choudhury

Jamir Ahmed Choudhury is an Associate Professor and Head of the Philosophy Department at S. S. College, Hailakandi, Assam, with more than 25 years of teaching experience. A former science student who later turned to philosophy, he secured First Class First in his MA from Gauhati University and has written 28 books and sixteen research papers. His latest work, The Great Forensic Audit: Institutionalized Global Standard vs. Nature’s Equal & Opposite, brings together his ideas on natural science, unerring knowledge, and inalienable human rights. The book presents his views through different fields, raising questions about how we understand pre-existing science and inborn human rights.
